Learning IoT and Industry 4.0 at MAST Summer School. In collaboration with Zerynth and Coesia
Once again Zerynth was a technology partner at the Summer School organized by the MAST Foundation, an international cultural and philanthropic institution that focuses on art, technology, and innovation and that symbolizes the close relationship between COESIA industrial group and the beautiful surrounding city, Bologna.
Focusing on new generation talents and encouraging the development of creativity and entrepreneurship in young people, MAST Foundation organized this Summer School also cooperating with other institutions and technology partners such as Zerynth, Dallara, Coesia, University of Bologna and University of Pisa.
Thirty students from Emilia-Romagna region, selected according to scholastic performance and a presentation video, attended courses on rapid prototyping of physical and electronic objects with 3D printing, sensors, and actuators. In particular, Zerynth provided a “getting started” course on rapid prototyping of smart devices with an emphasis on IoT and Industry 4.0 applications. As you can see, the students enjoyed using our tools (Zerynth Studio and Zerynth App) to program the boards and sensors provided by Mikroelektronika and Microchip.
Students were also challenged to test the new competencies by inventing a smart device, opportunely judged by a jury. For another year, students surprised the jury with many interesting ideas and prototypes.
During the week, the students also had the opportunity to enjoy inspirational talks of very special guests: CEOs, directors and top managers of several multinational corporations active in the fields of industry, communications, finance, and entertainment. Academic experts included Dr. Max Bergami, Full Professor of Management and Organizational Behavior at the University of Bologna, Senior Advisor of the MAST Foundation and Dean of the Bologna Business School; and Dr. Carmelo De Maria, researcher at the Research Center “E. Piaggio” of the University of Pisa and expert in 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques.
