If you would like to learn more about smart maritime technology, and how Zerynth is helping to create a more sustainable and efficient mooring system, read on, and watch the video linked below.

How is Zerynth helping companies to innovate their products?

Luigi Cerfeda, our sales manager, did an interview with Maker Faire Rome, explaining what the Zerynth Platform is, what it has to offer, and how it has already helped companies and products innovate over the years.

One of the main points in the video is our recent case study with Seares Srl, and their Zerynth-powered Seadamp PLUS energy harvesting solution.

Seadamp smart mooring system

Seadamp PLUS is a Zerynth-powered smart mooring system, capable of capturing the kinetic power of waves, and transforming them into electricity.

First of all, let’s explain what a mooring/anchoring system actually is.

To keep a boat stationary, in any water depth, you need an anchoring/mooring system. It consists of an anchoring line, an anchor, and connectors. Now, as with any technology the material and the construction of an anchoring system depends on what kind of environments it will be used in. For example, synthetic fiber rope is best for deepwater environments, since it’s lightweight and very durable.

The Seadamp smart mooring system is a mechatronic device, capable of recovering energy from sea waves. Or to put it simply: whenever a boat is moored or anchored, Seadamp converts kinetic energy into electricity.

Main features of Seadamp PLUS IoT solution:

  • Real-time data acquisition
  • GSM connectivity
  • Green energy

Thanks to Zerynth, Seares has been able to offer an IoT-enabled maritime solution to its customers. A smart energy harvesting solution capable of real-time monitoring, and data acquisition.
